"Why haven't we got a status report yet?"
A large man stomped his foot into the ground. He could be compared to a Slaking in stature and size, though the personality was definitely more brutal. The Staryu he spoke to seemed perhaps to fear him a bit? It was always hard to tell with them.
"[Strong... Wild Pokemon in the area... Really strong...]"
"I understand... You're making excuses! No excuses!"
As he spoke to the Staryu before him, another flew in from the side.
"[Sir... More trouble... New Trainers in nearby town... Professor chosen...]"
This comment seemed to faze the man, who stood speechless for a moment with a grimace on his face.
"........."
"[Lord Rekt... More losses for continuing... New Trainers interfering likely...]"
At that, the man named Rekt finally spoke again.
"We'll work with what we got. I'll go myself to be sure. I wonder though... These Trainers. What are they like?"
Location: Professor Flikt's Laboratory
Inside the Laboratory, the four of you find yourselves standing before the Professor, a man in a lab coat, tall and suave. To the far left of the modest lab, there were several sofas arranged around a wide-screen television currently showing the ENN broadcast; and to the right, a small dining area for the Professor and his two other employees. In the back, beside the Healing Machine, the Professor's personal computer was located on a desk, right next to a Princess Fortissimo statuette. Other less notable features were the kitchen and the bookshelves.
In the back of the lab was the main feature, a full-scale battle simulation that could recreate special scenarios for researching battle potential in Pokemon. The main point of his research, he took the concept very seriously. So seriously in fact, that he turned to face all of you, asking a question.
"Pokemon battling. A good friend of mine in Kalos always asks Trainers who challenge him a simple question. I quote therefore, 'Do you think Pokémon battling can ever be worthy of being called an art?' It is a simple question, but a deep one. Consider it deeply, and tell me your answer."
On a table beside the Professor, four small boxes, folded closed and emblazoned with the Eisen Pokemon League symbol representing their new founding, beckoned, to be handed out upon the answer to the question being asked.

Jesabelle grinned widely, her blue eyes sparkling with an excess barely-constrained enthusiasm. The teen had barely slept a wink last night, instead spending the hours in excited research while she watched recorded battle after recorded battle. It was perhaps due to the lack of sleep that her Kalos accent showed through much more than it usually did; she certainly showed no signs of fatigue in her energetic gesticulation. "Oui, Professor, of course eet's an art!" she said as she slammed her fist into her palm. "Dze Trainer and Pokemon must be as one to ween battles," she pointed upwards with a pair of fingers held close together and spun her hand around in a tight circle, "workeen een sync with each odzher just like dancers!"

Will pipes up just after the Kalos native, a healthy flush in her cheeks and the light shine of sweat on her brow suggests she'd just finished an early morning run before the meeting. Shifting to stand on one leg and reaching behind her back, the teen stretches out some of the knots in her muscles, a similar, confident grin splitting her lips. "If I can call sports an art, Pokémon sports shouldn't be any different. There's all the same struggle and effort put in to make things shine their brightest." Battling is just another event she'll have to conquer once she's made it to the Pokélympic stage after all. Switching sides, Will glances down the row at her fellow new trainers, wondering if any of them might prove a good workout partner in the future.

Kid cursed under his breath. He didn't know even the first thing about art. Hopefully the question wasn't part a test of some kind, as Kid didn't test well under pressure.
"Um, well, anything can be an art, right? So, if someone saw it as artistic, it would be art to them, I guess..."
He scratched the back of his head sheepishly. It seemed like a pretty lame answer to him, but it was the best he could give.

"Hrm. Acceptable answers! Although I myself do not do Contests, some people do prefer it. That said, each of you, take one of these."
The Professor handed out one package to each of you, containing a single Pokedex, a single Potion, and five Basic Balls.
"All of you look quite eager to get started, so I'll make this short. Take the League challenge, but as you do so, remember what you said, and take it to heart. I want to see the results of your battling styles in all fields! As far as Gyms go, Parr City has the closest one to this Village, but you could also hike your way to both Tulidaisy Town and Faire Cit-actually, scratch the Faire City suggestion. That place can be super rough. If you feel up to the challenge though, then by all means go ahead."
The Professor then handed each of you one further item, the item itself being a neatly rolled up map.
"These maps should help you find your guys' way. You may also want to-"
"Professor! Professor!"
A Pokemart Aide bursts into the room suddenly, and in quite a panic.
"Professor! It's so simply awful! Our store was robbed right now! A young girl went to try and chase down the suspects, but she lost them on the path to Star Top Hill!"
"Hrm. That is not a favorable situation. Alright. Well, new Trainers. Perhaps this is the time to showcase your skills! I'd suggest you get out there and help the girl out. She may need it if this is a Team Chain or Team Liberte attack, since they tend to group up."
The Professor quickly whirled around to face his healing machine.
"While this village lacks a Pokemon Center, you can use the machine here to an equivalent effect, albeit we do not have a ward to tend to injuries. You'll need to go to the separate clinic in town for those. If you're ready, go ahead and get going!"
"Though much of our store and goods were damaged in the robbery, what we do have left we can sell to you if you need any extra supplies. We only have Potions and Basic Balls left though... That may be a problem."
At the Pokemart Aide's offer, Professor Flikt faced you guys again and nodded, leaving control of the situation to you.
"Good, good. I'll be here if you have any other questions, but I don't think we have much time for those in particular. I'd suggest you talk to the girl first though. Chances are the robbers made their way towards the Hill itself It's a dead end though, despite the size and paths through the hillside."

Jesabelle was inhaling to rebut the Professor's declaration of her response as merely 'acceptable', but the Aide bursting in with the grave announcement thoroughly derailed her.
That was probably for the best.
"Merci, Professor," Jessie called over her shoulder as she dashed out the door, stuffing the gifts into a convenient pocket. "Come on, you lot! Queet being so slow - dzhere's veellains to zhwart!"
Once outside, Jesabelle looked for either the girl or the robbers, Pokeball in hand and an eager, even manic grin on her face.

Kid, momentarily confused into inactivity by the Aide bursting in, looked back and forth between the Aide and the professor, wondering exactly what to do. Jessie's shouting, however, jarred him back to the present. He shouts back at her indignantly.
"What? Hey! I'm not slow! Get outta town!"
Kid dashes after Jessie, proving his point by catching up to her without any trouble. He hurriedly stuffed the things the Professor had given them into his duffel bag, before slinging the bag's two straps over his shoulders to keep his hands free.

i.imgur.com/QY9LEmx.png Will gratefully shoves the Pokédex and supplies into the sports bag hanging at her side with a " Thanks." of her own, zipper opening and closing for a quick one-two. An acceptable answer is...perfectly acceptable under the circumstances. Some medical know-how or not, the former soccer star isn't exactly an egghead. Where to get a head start as an early trainer on the other hand, that totally has her attention. " Sure thing, Prof. But Faire's not really that bad if you kno-..." Spinning to face the aid with a nod of determination, Will is already fishing out her only active Pokéball to call out her partner before the aid can finish. " Let's go Bridget! Time to see if those drills we've been working you with are paying off." Materializing in a flash of crimson light, the pint-sized Aipom scampers up to perch on her trainer's left shoulder, small screeching cheers of excitement ringing in everyone's ears. Of course, that short pause means the even more eager pair are racing out the door with a bit of a head start on her. " Haha...You guys might make for some good competition after we clean up this mess!", she calls out from behind, breaking into a steady jog while she catches up.

Jesabelle frowned up at the man, seemingly quite unconcerned with the fact that he stood head and shoulders above her and was twice her weight - and almost all of it muscle to boot. Annoyance at him for daring to shout at her was writ plain on her face. "Eef zhat’s so," she taunted as she flicked an errant bang out of her eyes, "Zhen ‘ow did I beat you out ‘ere, Slooowpoke?
"Besides," she continued in a tone less taunting and more severe, "Eet's bad manners to shout at a lady, especially one you've not been eentroduced to, non?"

Kid braked hard from his run, sliding across the ground for a moment, his shoes making little rivulets in the earth, before stopping next to her. He looked at her, shock and indignity on his face.
"You got out here first because you had a head start!" he replied. "And it's rude to yell at anyone, lady or no, even though that's exactly what you did to the rest of us earlier!"
His indignity quickly fades as he digests her words fully.
"But, you're right. We've not been introduced. I'm Gerard Brasman, but I'd prefer it if you would just call me Kid. Everyone does. What should I call you?"
He extends his hand, meaning for it to be shaken.

i.imgur.com/QY9LEmx.png Will keeps on running smooth and steady with Bridget latched onto her shoulder, passing the stopped Jessabelle and Kid on her hunt for the thief. Not slowing down enough to get the full picture of what they're talking about, the former soccer star passes them by with a clap on the martial artist's right shoulder, her Aipom's tail slapping five against his open hand before the older girl can shake. As she pulls ahead on the path, Will makes sure to give a wave back at them, tongue poking out at the pair. " You look a little big to be calling yourself a kid to me. But c'mon, we can't hang around too long or the theif'll slip through our fingers!"

"Jes-" she started to reply, but was interrupted by the mannerless Aipom. Glaring daggers at both the other girl and the Pokemon, she continued. "My name ees Jesabelle Rose." She cast a quick glance up and down Kid, appraising him with as much interest as she might have shown a side of beef at the butcher's, and then shrugged before hurrying after the athletic girl with the Aipom. "You can call me Jessie, I guess," she said with a dismissive wave.

Following the pathway lead you to a girl who was holding a determined stance. She was standing in a wide open part of the fields that comprised Star Top Hills, and was standing across from some Staryu and their Trainer.
"Damn you thieves! No reason to steal stuff from the village store!"
When she noticed you approaching, she turned to face you guys and beckoned you over. "Hey! I'm Lisa! If you're the help the Aide said he'd go to get, then I'm glad! Let's knock this thief a new one!" She sent out a Litwick as she spoke.
The man standing across from her pounded his two fists together in response. He was a hulking man, more comparable to a Slaking than anything, and his jacket, though a pale dark purple not unlike that of a Malamar or Machoke, was left unbuttoned, and he had no shirt underneath, apparently too big for such a thing. His black pants could probably fit your bodies inside of them in full, and he was well over 6 and half feet tall. He had a pickelhaube motorcycle helmet in a dark pale blue as well.
Through his yellow goggles, he smirked. "Hah! Look! It's more small things! This should be fun. We need those parts. You'll need to beat me to take them. I will warn you. My name is Rekt, and I'm tough."
As he said this last part, several Staryu organize themselves about 6m away from your party. You have some time to possibly banter if you wish.

i.imgur.com/QY9LEmx.png Running up to the bespectacled girl and her Litwick, Will is the first to arrive on scene, black and red sneakers kicking up a little dirt as she slides into place beside their new ally. " Got it in one! My name's Will and there should be another couple slowpokes coming up behind me soon. But if we're raring to get started, I'll be more than happy to kick things off!" This blockhead Rekt still looks as well-built as a brick wall, though his introduction doesn't paint him as any kind of thinker. Still, probably best to stay out of his range for now. " Need or not, it doesn't mean it's cool to swipe them. The store needs those parts too! So no hard feelings when we take 'em back, tough guy.", she grins, letting Bridget down from her shoulder at the same time. "Just like we practiced, Bridge. Hit 'em hard and fast!" And just like that, the young former athlete is off like a spark, lagging just behind the swift monkey Pokemon. The Aipom darts past the pair of Staryu to the party's right, small paws at their hard shells one after the other. Breaking off just before they hit the Staryu, Will herself grabs for the one closest to her Pokemon and farthest from Rekt, ready to slam the Water-type into the grass. Bridget the Aipom rushes first and attacks two of the Staryu with Scratch (Pass).
Will follows and uses Slam on the Staryu Bridget hits that's furthest from Rekt, using one AP to boost the accuracy check.

Jesabelle quickly scanned the field and groaned inwardly; her Fire-type Chimchar was in for a bad time against those Staryus. Fortunately, the little monkey had an edge against them. It was a narrow one, but an edge nonetheless. “’Ow nice for you,"she quipped as she hurled the Pokeball at the Staryu farthest from her ally. If questioned later, she would claim she were trying to split the enemy’s forces rather than let them gang up on a single target, but in truth she didn’t put nearly so much thought into it as all that. It just seemed like a good idea, so she did it. "Too bad you deedn't earn eet, you feelthy peeg of a zhief!""Show dzees beeg buffoon just ‘ow tough ‘e eesn’t!” Jessie shouted as Son Goku emerged from the Pokeball. "Use Zhunder Punch on ‘is Staryu!“Jesabelle uses Inspired Training on her Chimchar as a Swift Action. As a Free Action, she uses Cheerleader to Excite him.
Son Goku the Chimchar uses Thunder Punch against Staryu D.

Kid quickly closes the distance between him and Rekt, releasing Usagi from her Poke Ball as he did so. He barks a simple order for her to attack the Staryu, then confronts Rekt. "You look tough. Tough enough to learn something from!"Rather than continuing any banter, he launches an attack straight away, aiming for Rekt's feet. Usagi, on the other hand, takes her sweet time getting into attack range, looking down haughtily at the Staryu as she approaches... before bursting into a flurry of action, lashing out with her jawlike horn. Kid: Low Sweep, targeting Rekt (or the nearest Staryu, if he can't reach Rekt for whatever reason). ICrOhGwY1d20-2 2d10+24

Rekt's Theme: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhgO1ZBCTfI
Seeing your Pokemon attack his Staryu with split group tactics that resulted in one fainting, Rekt grew incredibly angry.
"Grrr! You talk funny Chimchar Girl, but the boss would like that... I'l take you with me as well!" Rekt stomped on the ground, fuming at the Staryu he was commanding. "We'll take the girl too! KO her, but only to knock her out. The boss would appreciate her alive."
With a smirk, Rekt got ready to say something else, but was then interrupted by Kid.
"GRRR! RAAH! I'LL PUNT YOU YOU RUNT! LET'S GET 'EM BOYS!"
Rekt seemed to lose his temper quite terrifically, and his Staryu scrambled to appease him, seemingly over performing, despite being scrambled by the Trainers who showed up. They swiftly flew backwards a short distance to position themselves, unable to be struck thanks to the swiftness of the action. They then fired Water Gun attacks at the closest targets they had. Somehow, Rekt's lack of finesse affected them too, making their attacks disperse wildly, the jets of water appearing far narrower or wider than would be expected.
Rekt still looks quite healthy. Three of the Staryu are injured, two of which look ready to faint...

Lisa's Theme: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Qp-cGWavJU
In response to this, Lisa grimaced. "Candlebright, let's attack that big oaf! Damn if he'll hurt any of us!"
The Litwick put on its best fighting face and hovered over towards Rekt as it spit several small gouts of flame at the raging man.

Kid reeled back from the blow, almost dropping to one knee, his vision swimming and hazing. He had never been hit that hard before in his life. It took an enormous effort to get back into his fighting stance, and, after he had recovered from his stagger, he was incredibly wary of engaging Rekt in close combat again. Usagi, on the other hand, was completely unafraid of the Staryu, She strolled up to the nearest one, completely at her leisure. She catches Rekt's eye as he confronts her Trainer, taking the time to perform a mock yawn, emphasizing her ease at which she dispatches his Pokemon. Once again, she savagely tears into the Staryu with her horn, snapping down repeatedly, taking advantage of the Staryu being unable to focus exclusively on her due to the many other targets. Kid: Rolling Kick on Rekt, and then Disengage action to move out of Rekt's immediate reach.
Accuracy: 74FrGjtj1d20-4
Damage: 2d6+8+14
Usagi: Intimidate (ability, Swift action) targeting Rekt, then Bite on the nearest Staryu.
Accuracy: 1d20-2
Damage: 2d6+8+16
EDIT: Roll Protection ain't allowing me to fix the 2d6+8+14 into 2d6+22 in order to have it display properly. The damage roll will be put into the Dice Thread, instead. 1d20-4·2d6+8+14·1d20-2·2d6+8+16

Recoiling from the sudden shock of water to her face, Will whips her head back and forth to shake off the stray droplets in her hair. That definitely stung a bit. Rearing back a few paces, she takes a look at her Pokemon and winces, Bridget looking quite waterlogged and a couple of bruises showing through the Normal-type's ruffled fur. Another couple splashes like that and they'll be wiped out. What kind of help would they be then? Fishing through her bag, the dark-haired teen charges towards her Pokemon with a Potion in hand, foot lashing out at the bright red gemstone in the center of the Staryu before she ducks down and tends to the little monkey. Spritz spritz. " Nice job out there. We'll get those supplies back in no time!" A moment later, the little Aipom is following up her trainer, flipping forwards and swiping her tail along the closest Staryu's body once again. Reinvigorated is easily the first word that comes to mind. Will takes her Standard Action as a Sprint Maneuver bringing her to Overland 12 because of Training Regime.
She then backpedals a couple meters and charges the Staryu closest to Bridget in a straight line (Staryu A?), so she's in the middle (if possible, and adjacent if not).
Will uses a Potion on Bridget as a Swift Action thanks to Medic and gains 5 DR for a full round from Front Line Healer.
Will then uses Slam on Staryu A as a Free Action with the Smite Keyword. AC 6: td26WNpI1d20[/roll] Physical Damage: 2d8+18[/roll]
Bridget shifts towards Staryu A (Or B, if A went down from Will's Slam) and uses Scratch. (+1 Accuracy from Focused Training) AC 2: 1d20+1[/roll] Physical Damage: 2d6+21[/roll]
EDIT: Screwed up my rolls. Reposting in the roll thread. >.> ···

“Merde!” Jessie exclaimed as the Staryu’s Water Gun attack hosed her Chimchar down, sending the poor thing tumbling and her heart skipping a beat. Son Goku was in trouble - he couldn’t take another one like that. “Feeneesh zhem off! Zhunder Punch eet again, but watch out for zhat Water Gun!”Son Goku expended his Excited condition to take 31 damage. A single attack dealt more than 1/2 his HP, and he got reduced to below 1/2 his HP, so that’s two injuries.
Jesabelle uses Commander’s Voice with Focused Training and Inspired Training as a standard action, and Cheerleader as a free action to get Son Goku Excited again. . . . that didn’t sound right. For her shift action, she backs up because Rekt is a creeper.
The Chimchar, on the other paw, just makes use of his tiny fists of fury against Staryu D. Thunder Punch: s7_vzBERd20+1, 2d8+21 damage. Then what the enormous hulk of a brute said registered, and Jesabelle’s eyes widened in shock before they narrowed in disgust. “I don’t know what your boss would want weedz me, you overgrown peeg - and I mean that een every sense of zhe word - but eef ’e’s as foul and stupeed as you I wouldn’t want to go anywhere near ’eem. I can’t reesk zhat zhe stupeed might be contagious!”d20+1·2d8+21
